Capital Budget on School Committee Plate
The School Committee meets at 7 p.m. in the Holliston High School library.

The School Committee will continue its discussion of what to advance for capital budget item requests to be considered at next month's Fall Town Meeting when it meets at 7 p.m.
At its last meeting on Sept. 2, the committee learned from district Business Manager Keith Buday that one item that had become more urgent is replacement of the floor in the gymnasium at Adams Middle School.
The floor had been on a long-term plan for future replacement, but is now buckling and becoming unusable. Buday said the cost to replace the floor would also be higher than anticipated, as school officials were informed the glue holding the surface in place contains asbestos.

School Committee Chairman Erica Plunkett said the asbestos is not a health hazard as the floor remains intact, but rather than simply replacing the surface, the project will now involve asbestos removal, asbestos testing, engineering, and installation of the floor and bleachers.
Other items on the agenda include an administrative compensation review and a preview of the upcoming Oct. 7 professional development day.
