Cutler Heights Open House Set for Sunday
Preference for 70 percent of the units in the affordable housing project will go to Holliston residents.

The next step in the evolution of Cutler Heights will unfold on Sunday when the affordable housing project stages an open house from 1—4 p.m.
Managed by Corcoran Management Company, Cutler Heights received its certificate of occupancy last week and already has nine move-ins and six others pending. Of the 30 apartments, preference for 70 percent of them will go to Holliston residents.
Construction began in January 2010 and ended in early March.

"We've been working toward this for some time and it's been a long, but great process," said John Juhl, a co-developer of the project. "It's been great working with the Housing Authority and during the process, you dream of these days."
There are six three-bedroom units at $1,372, 23 two-bedrooms at $1,191 and one single-bedroom unit (which has already been taken) in the building. Heat and hot water are included in the rent.

Twenty seven of the apartments will go to households with incomes at or below 60 percent of the area’s median income ($44,100). Three of the homes will be available for households with incomes at or below 30 percent or less.
"There will always be a need for affordable housing in town," said Juhl. "These are just about all family units near downtown and they're easily acessible to everything there. We've had a great relationship with the town and people have been very supportive.
"Units like these are necessary, especially in this economy, and Cutler Heights will eventually become part of the fabric of the community."
Each apartment in the 3 1/2-story building features dark wood laminate flooring in the living areas, carpeting in the bedrooms and a washer and dryer. The building has a community Social/Study Center, an underground parking garage and an elevator to the upper floors.
"The support we've gotten from the community has been great and we hope that people will come see the final product," said Juhl.
