Dan Barone is Tops All Around

As Dan Barone finishes up his final semester at Holliston High School, the Holliston Patch had a chance to catch up with him and talk about his future plans.

Humble and unassuming, Dan Barone has made the most of his career both on and off the football field and the basketball court. Now he is looking forward to continued academic and athletic success in college.

"I definitely want to play football in college," Barone said. "I don't know where I want to go yet, but I imagine it will be division three school, so no scholarship will be involved."

Barone who has been a star player since he walked on the field his freshmen year, just finished out a season as the quarterback bringing his team great success.

"Our team is currently at four and seven for the season, "Barone said. "I'm hoping we start to gel and improve."

When not on the football field or basketball court, Barone is far from a slacker. He has been a consistent honors student in both AP and Honors classes and even ran track this past fall.

"I knew one of the coaches, and he had been on me to try," Barone said. "I really enjoyed it. It was a lot of fun."

Barone spent this past summer in Mississippi aiding those still affected by Hurricane Katrina.

"I have done a lot of charity and mission work through my church, St. Mary's," Barone said. "It was a good experience to go to Mississippi and see the troubles others are going through. I spent my time putting up drywall, but it was amazing to realize that there are still people affected by Hurricane Katrina all this time later."

Barone is most interested in a liberal arts education at either Amherst, Bowdoin or Trinity, and he really hopes to play football through college.

"Not a lot of people expected us to do as well as we did this past season," Barone said of the football season. "It was definitely a lot of fun, and I really want to continue to play."
