Dancing Arts Center to Hold Holiday Concert Auditions
Auditions and an informational meeting will be held on Sept. 17.
The following press release was submitted by the Dancing Arts Center
The Dancing Arts Center will hold its holiday dance concert auditions on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011 at its studio on 9 Whitney St., from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
An important information meeting will be held from 2:30 - 3:30 where interested children and adults can meet the choreographers, the director, stage manager and wardrobe manager as well as participate in a question and answer session.
The holiday dance performance is the first of four concerts produced annually by the Dancing Arts Center. The choreographers are auditioning for ballet, modern, and, or jazz dancers for their production which features the ballet, The Gift, an original ballet by DAC ballet master Wayne Stewarte, among others.
Any one age 6 through adult is eligible to audition for The Gift. Any non-dancer with stage presence is eligible to be placed in a walk-on role for the ballet to gain stage experience. Rehearsals leading up to the performance will be between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays. The performances are planned for Dec. 17 and 18.
Participation in the Holiday Dance Concert is magical: beautiful scenery, professional lighting, sparkling costumes, and smiling faces of children and adults capturing the audience’s hearts.
This is the experience we all wish for, and this is what it will be on performance days.
The Dancing Arts Center provides instruction in classical ballet, modern dance, improvisation, character, jazz, Pointe, and choreography, and offers a variety of other performance-related classes through the year.
DAC’s teaching foundation is based on the philosophy that good dance training awakens the senses and stimulates emotional, physical, and intellectual growth. It believes in nurturing each student’s desires, and enhancing their love of dance, through creative expression, exploration, and discovery.
