Presented by:

Fitness Together Ashland and Cindy Crowninshield, RDN, LDN, HHC

We all know someone with Diabetes.
The statistics are shocking. Diabetes effects 5% of the entire adult population (over age 20) and a staggering 25% of our senior population. Chances are, you know a loved one struggling with this disease.

Recently diagnosed? Now what?

You can't tackle this without proper medical supervision. Your health care provider will be your first resource. He or she will provide you with a diet to follow, tell you lose weight and maybe provide medications to help you get your sugar under control. All that is great, but there is a catch. If you don't understand what is happening inside your body, it is really hard to figure out what to eat, when to eat, how much and what kind of physical activity you need to be doing.

Eating smart and adding daily physical activity will give you the best chance to keep your blood sugar level in a healthy range and keep it there.

About Cindy Crowninshield, RDN, LDN, HHC will be visiting to talk nutrition while Bob Savin, Owner of FT Ashland and ACSM Certified Personal Trainer will handle the exercise aspect.

During this FREE seminar, you will learn answers to questions like these:

  • What is diabetes?
  • The role of insulin.
  • How is it diagnosed?
  • Do I have risk factors to consider?
  • How does physical activity help insulin absorb glucose into your body’s cells?
  • What type of exercise can help me?
  • What time of day is best for physical activity?
  • Why weight training can have a positive effect on blood glucose.
  • Risk factors to consider while exercising.

And you will learn some tools to help you take control.

  • Treatment goals for the pre/diabetic patient.
  • Planning healthy meals.
  • Complications and how to avoid or manage them.
  • How to create a healthy plan for starting an exercise program.
