Electric Car Charging Available in Hopkinton
After recieving a federal grant, the town of Hopkinton partnered with a Caliper to bring public car charging stations to their Elm Street location
With gasoline prices creeping closer to $4 a gallon every day about the ways they use their car.
With that in mind the and came together this year to bring a publicly available car charging station to town for anyone in the area with an electric car.
The money for the station itself was part of a grant from the state Department of Energy Resources. It's part of a partnership with a business in California that brought 30 new stations to the state.

According to an article in the Worcester Business Journal, no one has used the station yet but hopefully having it available will encourage local residents and workers to buy electric.
"It's kind of a chicken or the egg thing," Aubrey Doyle, director of quality and facilities at PerkinElmer and also a member of the town's Sustainable Green Committee said. "You have to have some infrastructure there. I'll be curious to see how interest picks up."

The cost of running the station will be covered by Caliper, and according to Doyle is only a part of what the company is trying to do to go green.
