Featured Pet: Checkers (Reduced Adoption Fee: $25)

Checkers is about as dog-like as a cat can get. He heels better than most pups, sticking like glue to your side. He follows people EVERYWHERE.

The volunteers like to joke that we should change his name to Nike because of the cool Swoosh on his back. He is such a handsome fella. All the gals swoon over him.

Checkers, who is only four years old, loves to play and can sometimes roughhouse a bit but he means absolutely no harm and is just a fun-loving guy. However, because of this, we believe he’d do best in a home with older children.
He is fine with female cats - no surprise - and small dogs.

Checkers is super social and will act as your door man, greeting guests when they arrive.

We want to find Checkers an amazing home ASAP as we believe being cooped up in the shelter is taking its toll on the poor boy. Although he is a happy outgoing cat, he is getting cranky amid the hectic environment.

Checkers is FIV positive, which nowadays is not a limiter. He requires no special treatment and cats with FIV can and do live as long as other felines. Learn more here. 

We are so anxious to find Checkers a home before his personality is changed that we would consider foster to adopt. We are confident whoever is lucky enough to get this sweetheart will not want to let him go.
