Flood Watch Issued For Holliston, Hopkinton

The heavy rains that slammed the area yesterday could result in minor flooding in some areas, including the Assabet River at Maynard, which is affecting Middlesex and Worcester counties. A flood watch has been issued to Holliston and Hopkinton. 

Heavy rainfall of 2-4 inches around Maynard caused the river to rise, and it is possible that it could go into a flood by Thursday morning, said the National Weather Service.

By 4:14 p.m. on Wednesday, the stage was at 4.1 feet, and flood stage is 5 feet. Flood stage may be reached by Thursday morning, at which minor lowland and backyard flooding is likely along the reaches of the river.

“Several river roads may also become covered in water,” said NWS.
