"It is the greatest thing when people say they want a Snappy Dog, not a hot dog," Co-Owner of Teresa Boyce said. "We are so touched by the level of support we have received in and around town."

"We dont' know the exact date," Boyce said. "We just know it's Polyarts Saturday. That was the day the Board of Health granted us our certificate and we opened for business. It was a whirlwind day."

"It had nothing to do with us being together," Boyce quipped.
The real reason was because Snappy Dogs was waiting to be born.
"We did all of the work on the trailer ourselves with help from family and friends," Boyce said. "I was on the roof and Lisa held a drill for the first time."
Moving forward, Snappy Dogs hopes to find a smaller trailer so that they can take their show on the road.
"We would love to be able to go to the common or to the local sports events and sell our dogs," Boyce said. "We've toyed with the idea for a while, but this winter I think we're finally going to do it."
The Snappy Dog season is from April 1 through the end of November. They are open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Saturday.
Snappy dogs are unique in that they are in the casing; thus the snap, and Volpe Hachey, a chef, makes many of the condiments from scratch. These hot dogs are never boiled, either, always grilled.
"For $2.50 you can get a fully-loaded, yummy, fresh dog," Boyce said.
Volpe Hachey and Boyce don't have time to taste other hot dogs in the area as they are so busy themselves. For this, they are grateful.
"The love that we have for our people is amazing," Boyce said. "The kids have found us, and the seniors are using their senior privileges to come have a hot dog. We love them all."
Snappy Dogs will be offering free whoopie bites with the purchase of a hot dog tomorrow, while they last, in celebration of their birthday. Stop by and have a bite.
