Holliston 9, East Boston 1: Cooling the Jets

The Holliston hockey team continued its push to the postseason with a non-league rout Saturday night.

Following Friday night, the Holliston hockey team came back with a 9-1 victory over East Boston on Saturday.

Nine different players scored for the Panthers, who improved to 6-7-3. Seniors John Powers, Eric Witunski, John Georgallas, Zach Mason and Connor Dupont and junior Nick Morganelli all scored, while juniors Tim Araujo, Jay Marcoaldi and senior Tony Scouras all tallied their first varsity goals.

Scouras, Witunski, Dupont, Georgallas, Vince Coffey, Tyler Perry, Scouras and Derek Fonseca all had assists for the Panthers.

Holliston blitzed the Jets with six goals in the first period before scoring two in the second and another in the third. The Panthers finished with a 53-9 edge in shots on goal.

Senior goalie Chris Lamont played the first two periods to earn the win in net, before freshman Dan Drsicoll took over in the third.

The Panthers will look to get back to .500 on Wednesday as they visit Hopkinton (Navin Arena in Marlborough, 6:30 p.m.). Holliston, which needs five points in its last four games to qualify for the Division 3 South sectional, claimed in the first meeting between the teams Jan. 22.
