Holliston Barn Fire Not Believed To Be Arson
Officials are still trying to determine what caused a fire that killed dozens of animals over the weekend.
HOLLISTON, MA – A preliminary investigation into a barn fire in Holliston that claimed the lives of dozens of animals has not turned up any suspicious evidence. A spokesperson for the state Department of Fire Services told the Boston Globe this week that investigators conducted a partial examination of the site Tuesday and found "no obvious signs" of arson.
Authorities said there were about 60 animals in the Concord Street barn when it caught fire early Sunday morning. Two roosters, four hens, four ducks, two rabbits and seven pigs survived the blaze and are in the care of the Animal Rescue League of Boston.
A neighbor who called 911 told the Boston Herald she awoke Sunday morning to the "blood-curdling" screams of animals trapped in pens. The animals are owned by Rebecca Brodie of Brodie Farms in Holliston, who leased the barn, the Herald reported.
