Holliston's Marty Lamb Announces Run for State Representative

In front of a large group of friends and family, Marty Lamb officially announced his candidacy for State Representative on Tuesday.

"After receiving much encouragement, today I am proud to announce my candidacy for State Representative. After working with New Jobs for Massachusetts for the past year, it became clear that Beacon Hill is broken. Nothing is getting done about fixing our economy. Right now we have a high unemployment rate of close to 7 percent, and on top of that we have an underemployment rate of 8.9 percent. This is not a thriving economy. This is a tragedy. We need new leadership at the State House. The people of this district can count on me to roll up my sleeves and put in the long hours to implement policies that create an environment that entrepreneurs want to start a business while others expand. This will create the jobs we so desperately needed," Lamb said.

Lamb will be challenging incumbent Carolyn Dykema who has a poor record of supporting the job creators of this state's small businesses. According to the National Federation of Independent Business, the nation's leading small business advocacy group, Dykema has a 38 percent rating which means she votes against job creating policies 62% of the time. 

"As a small business owner, I know the difficulties of growing a business in Massachusetts. Like so many other business owners, I have struggled to make it work, struggled with the regulations, struggled to pay the fees, and struggled to pay the taxes. It is time for a State Representative who will fight for small business owners that create three out of every four new jobs," said Lamb. "We can turn around our economy and grow jobs with the right leadership."

In 2011 Lamb joined New Jobs for Massachusetts which has been working to educate the legislature about initiatives that will help put more people back to work. It was an eye opening experience for Lamb.

Lamb's other issues include forcing the governor to implement secure communities that will deport criminal illegal immigrants, lowering the tax burden, raising academic standards for schools, and restoring integrity to the State House.

"Corruption happens when others sit on the sidelines and say nothing. I will stand up for the residents of this district on Beacon Hill. I will be their voice that enough is enough," added Lamb.

Mr. Lamb graduated from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University in 1985 and received his Bachelor of Arts from Hampshire College in 1982. He has an extensive background in real estate law, formerly with Adelson, Golden & Loria, P.C., Edward A. Sokoloff & Associates, and Lamb & Shaffer, P.C., Lamb and Browne, P.C., and is currently with Lamb and Associates, P.C..He is a member of the Real Estate Bar Association of Massachusetts. An active participant in community affairs, Mr. Lamb sits on the Board of Directors of New England Region of United Synagogue and is a past president of Temple Beth Torah in Holliston. He has also served on the Holliston Elementary School Council and the Campaign for Holliston Schools. He resides in Holliston with Peri, his wife of 22 years, and their two daughters, Elissa and Simma.
