Holliston School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Early Release Days

HOLLISTON, MA – Record scratch, school can't be right around the corner, can it? It's still a ways away, but these things have a knack for sneaking up on you during the dog days of summer. The first day of school for grades K-12 is Aug. 29.

The 2017-18 school calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here's a list of dates to know for the fall semester:

• Aug. 28: Opening day for teachers
• Aug. 29: Opening day for students
• Sept. 1: No school, professional development day for teachers
• Sept. 4: No school, Labor Day
• Sept. 21: No school, Rosh Hashanah
• Oct. 9: No school, Columbus Day
• Nov. 1, 2 and 9: Half day for grades 1-5, Placentino and Miller conference days
• Nov. 10: No school, professional development day for teachers
• Nov. 22: Half day
• Nov. 23, 24: No school, Thanksgiving recess
• Dec. 25-Jan.1: No school, Winter recess
