Hopkinton Board Notes: Longtime Officer Sgt. Sutton Retires from Hopkinton PD

Here's a recap of the actions on the Board of Selectmen agenda this week.

The Hopkinton Board of Selectmen met on Tuesday, Oct. 7.

Below are some actions taken at the meeting:

  • After 33 years with the town’s Water Department, Jean Scarlata is retiring
  • After 24 years as an officer, Sergeant Mike Sutton is retiring from the Police Department.
  • Kelly Knight was appointed to the Elementary School Building Committee as an alternate member
  • The board accepted an Ambulance Gift Fund of $620 in memory of Anthony Vento
  • The board appoints Sgt. Mike Sutton to special officer for three -year term
  • The board approved the state election warrant
  • Mary Jo LaFrieniere resigned from the Tax Relief Fund Committee, to be replaced by John Palmer
  • Amanda Fargiano was appointed to the Youth Commission for a three-year term
  • Joseph Morrissey was appointed as the town’s representative on the South Middlesex Opportunity Council
  • Board heard financial projections for FY2016 from the finance director
  • Board discussed the Fruit Street Solar Farm
