Hopkinton Girls Clinch Postseason with 53-47 Win
Hillers girls basketball holds off aggressive Ashland Clockers Tuesday night. Doucette leads all scorers. Chandler, Leteria also have big nights.
Hopkinton High School Girls Basketball clinched a place in the postseason last night with a hard-fought win over Ashland.
Hopkinton took control of the game after Tri-Valley League foe Ashland opened with a 3-pointer, only to be answered by a fast-break 2-pointer by junior forward Lindsey Doucette.
At the half, the Hillers were up 19-10 by hitting their free throws and playing aggressively.

At half-time, a free-throw contest for Fan Appreciation Night delighted the packed auditorium at Hopkinton High School.
To open the third quarter, Ashland scored to cut the lead to 7, only to be followed by a fast break 2-pointer by guard Tess Chandler and a beautiful 3-point shot by Victoria Munger.

In the fourth quarter, the re-energized Ashland girls drained a series of 3-point shots, but the Hillers held the lead by sinking all of their free throws and making key steals.

The boys won their 13th starigh by beating Ashland 75-68. The Hillers' last loss was to TVL-leader Medway on Jan. 7.
