Hopkinton High School Drama Ensemble To Benefit From Award-Winning Folk Artist's March 19 Show
David Francey's 'Right of Passage Tour' will arrive Saturday, March 19th, at 7:30 p.m.in the Hopkinton High School Auditorium
Hopkinton residents and folk-music enthusiasts from the area will have a unique opportunity to attend a concert by award winning artist David Francey on Saturday, March 19. (Here is a link to one of David's songs on YouTube.)
The Scottish-born singer and storyteller included a stop in Hopkinton on his Right of Passage tour when he learned of the Hopkinton High School Drama Ensemble’s upcoming trip to the Edinburgh (Scotland) Fringe Festival and the drama ensemble's fundraising efforts.
Jay Britt of Hopkinton has a son attending the festival with the Hopkinton High School drama group. He is a fan of David Francey and thought the musician's ties to Scotland would complement fundraising efforts.

"I stumbled upon David's music while surfing around YouTube for a song to send to a friend," says Britt. "When I heard David's song 'Broken Glass I was blown away and became a fan."
Francey’s wry humor and astute observations combined with his openhearted singing style have earned him a loyal following and are sure to entertain audiences of all ages. Touring with David is American balladeer and multi-instrumentalist Craig Werth.

The Hopkinton High School Drama Ensemble, under the direction of Valerie von Rosenvinge, has been selected to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the world's largest and most prestigious performing arts festival.
In Scotland, the drama ensemble will perform an original work Empty Page, Empty Stage, written by von Rosenvinge and members of the ensemble, as part of the American High School Theatre Festival. The drama ensemble will also perform a preview of the play in Hopkinton in May.
Each August, Edinburgh becomes a stage for performing artists from all over the world.
The Fringe Festival includes more than 2,000 different performances of music, theatre, dance, and comedy during its three-week run. Hopkinton High School's performance will be showcased at the ASTF venue in Edinburgh the week of August 8, 2011.
