Hopkinton Police Raise Over $6,000 During 'No Shave November'

The $6,000 was raised for three different cancer charities.

HOPKINTON, MA — With the new year comes a fresh face for Hopkinton police officers. The department participated in the "No Shave November" initiative to raise money for three cancer charities. While the hashtag No Shave November tends to go viral every year, police departments have extra fun with the trend since it's the one time officers are allowed to grow out their facial hair. With the extended initiative over, it's back to a clean shave for the Hopkinton officers.

The department raised $6,000 for three different cancer charities during the initiative. While the event is only supposed to last through November, Hopkinton Police Chief Edward Lee allowed the officer to extend the event into December.

"It’s been a great opportunity to raise money for such an important cause," the department wrote in a Facebook post. The post included a before and after photo of Officer Phil Powers with a full beard and after he shaved it.
