Hopkinton Teen Joins Prestigious Summer Dance Program
Angela Cole, who has attended the Dancing Arts Center of Holliston since age 8, chooses the North Carolina School for the Arts to pursue modern dance.
Hopkinton's Angela Cole, a student at the Dancing Arts Academy of Holliston, will attend an internationally recognized summer program at the North Carolina School for the Arts. If all goes well, the Hopkinton resident will pursue her dancing and senior year of high school in North Carolina.
Cole was accepted into two other internationally recognized dance programs besides the North Carolina School for the Arts. One was the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, the other was the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet.
Cole chose the North Carolina School for the Arts for its year-round program that specializes in contemporary dance, which is her strength and avocation.

Besides Cole, three other Dancing Arts Center students from Ashland, Natick and Framingham have been accepted into internationally known summer programs.
The dancers auditioned each weekend in January in Boston and New York as major dance companies from across the country selected candidates.
Karyn Edison, director of the Dancing Arts Center of Holliston, said that receiving outside perspective and feedback from other master teachers at the right time is helpful for her students.
Edison said she helps her students decide when, where, and with which dance company they should perform. She said she also helps them determine which program is best suited for them during the summer.
