Hopkinton to Lose 40 Tech Jobs Next Year

Accelrys is looking to move their northeast headquarters from Hopkinton to Milford.

A producer of computer software will move its northeast division to a two-story building in Milford next year, bringing 40 jobs from Hopkinton, according to a report in the Worcester Business Journal.

California-based Accelrys produces software for science-related business, and recently acquired VelQuest. It will move the subsidiary to a 20,000-square-foot space at 9 Industrial Rd., the VelQuest president told the business journal.

The two-story office building is located in the industrial park off Birch Street. Accelyrs would be using about a quarter of the interior office space. The building also houses a location for Tri-County Medical Associates.

VelQuest is now located at 25 South St. in Hopkinton.

Milford officials have not been contacted by Accelyrs officials, said Town Administrator Louis Celozzi, but town approval will not be required for the move unless the interior of the building is substantially changed.
