Hopkinton Track Closes Great Season by Sending 18 Athletes to All-State Meet
Great performances mark Hillers' participation at D3 championships in Boston

On Saturday, Feb. 19, in a crowded field at the Div. 3 championships at Boston’s Reggie Lewis Center, the Hopkinton Hillers boys and girls track teams made a run for a chance to compete in the All State Meet this coming Saturday, Feb. 26.
The energy was palpable as parents packed the stands, athletes warmed up or cooled down and tried to remain calm.

Hopkinton junior Jeff Corkum was the top individual Hopkinton boy, finishing third in the high jump.
The boys 4 x 200 relay team of Andrew Johnson, Josh Hacunda, Jake Whittles, and Peter Bransfield came in second at 1:34. The boys 4 x 400 team of Mike Ronan, Josh Hacunda, Jake Whittles, and Zach Hutchinson also claimed second at 3:31. Both relay teams and Corkum will compete Saturday at the All State meet, which will also be held at the Reggie Lewis Center.

The boys, who earlier this month won the Tri-Valley League Championship meet, finished fifth overall with 25 points.
The Hiller girls entered the championships after an undefeated TVL season. None of the seniors on the team has ever lost a meet.
The girls placed sixth in Div. 3 with 33 points.
Senior Kellie Lodge had the highest individual total, finishing second in the mile at 5:15:49. She moves on to the states in the mile and 2-mile.
Senior Kim Bolick took fifth in the 1,000 with a 3:03. Freshman Jessica Scott took sixth in the 55-yard-dash with a 7.58. Junior Emily Jarvis had a seventh in the hurdles. They will move on to next Saturday.
The Hillers 4 x 800 relay with seniors Haley Anderson and Kim Bolick, sophomore Tam Mills and freshman Melissa Lodge took second with a 9:52. They also move on to the states.
Sophomore Hiller Meghan Beidelman also competes next Saturday in the long jump.
Congratulations to both teams for great seasons and good luck to next Saturday’s competitors.
