Hopkinton Woman Ready for Boston Marathon No. 3

Dara Dalmata has run Boston twice as well as the Bay State Marathon in Lowell and the New York City Marathon. She is ready for one more 26.2 mile run after recovering from an injury last year.

In 2006, Dara Dalmata fulfilled her New Year's resolution by running the Bay State Half Marathon in Lowell.

Although she finished the race, she didn’t enjoy the training. Running was never her passion. She only did it for fitness.

But in 2007, Dalmata moved to Hopkinton with her husband Tim and their German Shorthair Pointer, Morgan. Then she joined the Hopkinton Running Club.

“It is a great group of people who make running fun,” says Dalmata.

With a new passion for running and having already run a half marathon, Dalmata was ready for a bigger challenge. The 2007 Bay State Marathon in Lowell became her first full marathon.

Four marathons later, an injury that kept her out of the Boston Marathon last year.

This year, a reduced training program where she cut all tempo runs and speed workouts and ran only three days a week (so she wouldn’t get injured again), has her ready to again run the Boston Marathon.

“I am excited to be running again," Dalmata said.

"It was very hard to not be able to run last year, especially living in Hopkinton.”
