HOLLISTON, MA — Holliston police are warning residents to stay home and off the roads if they can. The brunt of Winter 2019's first storm may be behind us but the cleanup surely is not and icy roads made for a hectic morning, according to police.

The department took to Facebook on Tuesday to ask drivers to stay home. The post said at least five accidents had occurred since 6:30 a.m. The post did not specify where each accident happened but said some had minor injuries.

Holliston's Highway Department has been on the roads, salting and plowing for 48 hours. Police said despite how fast acting the department is, the storm and it's icy aftermath move quicker, creating dangerous conditions for drivers.

In cheeky fashion the police department's post didn't bring up a problem with no solution. Instead of going for a drive, the department offered a funny list of alternatives residents could take advantage of, off the roads.

"Netflix and chill, Disney+ it, read a book, and stay off the road. Do you want to build a snowman? (Sorry, that song is now stuck in your head)."

The department added that those who must drive should allot extra time in their commute and take things slow.
