Jaws of Life Used in Two-Car Crash Wednesday Morning

A Holliston woman had to be extracted from her 2006 Ford Explorer using the Jaws of Life Wednesday morning after a Millis man t-boned her SUV at Concord and High Streets.

Holliston Fire Chief Michael Cassidy said a 41-year-old woman was transported to UMass Memorial Medical Center after the removed her from the SUV.

According to Lt. Keith Edison of the Holliston Police Department, the woman is 41-year-old Tracy Abucewicz.

Abucewicz was waiting at the stop sign at the corner of Concord and High Streets at 9 a.m., when 75-year-old William Lewis got his foot stuck between the gas pedal and the brake of his Ford F-350 pickup truck, according to Edison.

He swerved off the right side of the road, drove over a small island, hit the curb and went airborne before crashing into the Explorer's driver's side, said Edison.

Following the collision, Lewis's truck landed on its driver's side, said Cassidy.

After receiving multiple calls at 9:01 a.m., Cassidy, Deputy Chief/EMS Supervisor Jim Moore, the ambulance, paramedics from Events EMS, Rescue 1 and Engine 3 responded to the scene, with initial reports indicating one vehicle on its side, and the driver of a second vehicle trapped in her car.

Captain Scott Boothby and paramedics from the Ashland Fire Department also responded after receiving a 911 call.

Concord Street was shut down to traffic between Ashland Street and Jennings Road to allow emergency personnel to work at the scene.

Lewis will be cited for a marked lanes violation, Edison said. He was evaluated by Ashland Fire personnel at the scene, but refused treatment, according to Cassidy.
