Cub Scout Information Night on Thursday, May 14th from 6:00 – 7:00 pm at St. John's Parish Hall

On May 14th at 6-7pm, please join us for a cub scouts information night at St. John’s Church (20 Church Street). We will provide pizza and will have someone to watch younger siblings while you learn about our program.

We have openings for boys entering 1st - 5th grades in the 2015-2016 school year. But no need to wait for fall, join this spring and participate right away! Activities include hiking, overnight camping, fishing, bike rides, pinewood derby, model rocket launch, Scouting for Food, Veteran’s Day and Memorial Day remembrances. We are family-oriented and include siblings in all activities.

Here is some additional information about cub scouts:

Our mission is to help boys in first through fifth grade find the path to being Boy Scouts, Eagle Scouts, and great young men. We focus on self-reliance, leadership, civic responsibility, and outdoor skills, all while having “fun with a purpose.”

Boys are grouped by age into “dens”, which are usually a group of six to eight boys -- Tiger Cubs (first graders), Wolf Cubs (second graders), Bear Cubs (third graders), and Webelos I and II (fourth and fifth graders). Dens are grouped into packs of 40 or more boys. We have 3 packs in Hopkinton: Pack 4, Pack 26, and Pack 97.

Pack meetings are typically once a month, about an hour long. Pack meetings are full of chances for cubs to participate and lead. In addition to the monthly pack meeting, cubs meet once or twice a month as a den. Each month also typically includes an optional, pack-wide outdoor activity.

Here is contact information for each pack leader: Bruce Tannenbaum, Pack 4 (pack4hop@gmail.com); Jon Stephan, Pack 26 (jfstepha@gmail.com); Ted Hoyt, Pack 97 (jhoyt@hoytlegalllc.com).
