For the third edition of "By the Numbers," we crunch the stats on some upcoming projects for the Highway Department.

In May, the gave the approval to . In this week's "By the Numbers," we go through some of the key stats related to that project and several others up for bid.
- $62,944 — The amount of money approved for a Public Works Economic Development (PWED) reimbursement request for the installation of traffic lights at Washington, High and Woodland streets. Selectmen voted in favor of the reimbursement request at their meeting Monday night.
- $88,000 — The total cost of the installation project.
- $25,056 — The amount of money to be paid by the town for the installation project.
- June 30 — The date by which Holliston had to spend the PWED money, which was awarded by the state several years ago.
- 5 — The number of accidents at the aforementioned intersection as of May 5, according to Police Chief John Moore.
- May 5 — The date the Board of Selectmen voted to spend the PWED funding, two years after commissioning a study of the intersection's traffic and accident patterns.
Annual Contract Bids for Fiscal Year 2012
- $34,405 – The winning bid for the milling (cold planing) contract, which was submitted by Rafferty Fine Grading of Enfield, CT.
- $63,750 — The winning bid for the road rehabilitation (reclamation) contract, which was submitted by Murray Paving & Reclamation of Holliston.
- $138,983 — The winning bid for the granite curbing contract, which was submitted by KB Aruba of Cambridge.
