Local Sculptor Creates 9/11 Tribute

On the tenth anniversary of the September 11 attacks, the Town of Norfolk will be unveiling a bronze version of their 9/11 Memorial - One World United for Peace, created by Hopkinton sculptor Michael Alfano. A ceremony will begin at 1:00 on Town Hill.

In the sculpture, thirteen figures atop a tower support a globe, all on a pentagon-shaped base. The collection of people reflect a myriad of reactions to the disaster, from shock to sadness to determination.

Beyond memorializing the events, the sculpture puts forth a call for the future, representing the need for everyone around the world to draw together to attain peace.
