What's Up With MassDOT's I-495, I-90 Redo? Find Out
See the latest plans for the major interchange, which carries about 175,000 vehicles per day.
WESTBOROUGH, MA — MassDOT will provide drivers with the latest plans for a major redo of the I-495, Mass Pike intersection at a meeting this week.
The Jan. 25 meeting will include images of how the new interchange will work after MassDOT removes ramps leftover from when toll booths existed.
"The project will replace the interchange, eliminate the old toll booth area and weaving areas, improve ramp spacing, acceleration, and deceleration lanes, and add an auxiliary lane from I-495 northbound to Route 9," MassDOT says. "New bridges will be constructed on I-495 over I-90, on I-495 and I-90 over the MBTA/CSX/Amtrak lines, on I-495 northbound over Flanders Road, and on Fruit Street."
