Access Ramp Proposed for Harvey Trucks

Yesterday businesses and community leaders met with consultants to discuss ways the interchanges between the Mass. Pike and route 495 could be improved, one of the suggestions was a special access ramp for trucks traveling to and from E.L. Harvey.

At a meeting with members of the 495/MetroWest partnership, local businesses including EMC met with regional officials to talk about what can be done to increase traffic flow through the route 495 / Massachusetts Turnpike interchange.

According to the Worcester Business Journal several ideas were tossed around including a special access ramp for E.L. Harvey trucks or a dedicated lane for passenger busses and tractor-trailers.

"The team, led by Boston-based consultants from AECOM and the Collaborative, projects traffic volume on Interstate 495 to increase by as much as 20 percent over the next 23 years and for the section of that highway south of the Massachusetts Turnpike to reach capacity," the article said.
