PHOTOS: Boy Scout Troop 4 Holds Court of Honor

The final Court of Honor of the school year was held on June 16 at Hopkinton State Park.

After a delicious warm meal, Scoutmaster Tom Dawson began the recent Troop 4 Court of Honor by awarding rank advancements, beginning with the first rank of Scout and ending with Life which is the rank before Eagle.

About 13 Scouts also received the rank of Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class and Star.

Several Troop 4 Scouts are working on their Eagle projects and will advance to the final rank of Scouting within the year.

Nearly two-dozen Scouts received merit badges in fields such as Architecture, Camping, Carpentry, Engineering, Fire Safety, Photography and Veterinary Medicine.

Four Scouts were awarded the Order of the Arrow which is an honors organization based on Indian lore.  Recipients have to be elected by their fellow Scouts and go through a secret ordeal which prepares them to be a leader.

Although several Troop 4 leaders are members of the Order of the Arrow, Assistant Scoutmaster Ed Clark is a Vigil member which is the highest honor.

Awards were given to Scouts who sold the most number of tickets for the 2nd Annual  in April.

The highest seller was ninth-grader Robert Lahaie who sold nearly $2,000 worth of tickets, followed by eighth-grader Andrew Hayes who sold about $900 and then seventh-grader Justin Filzow at $450.

The Scouts went door to door throughout Hopkinton for several weekends working in pairs.  They also had tables set up at which they took turns staffing.

The Scouts will go deep sea fishing and have a long weekend in Nantucket with the money raised from the breakfast.
