Police Log: Chimney Smoke, Mysterious Scream

Thursday, March 8

7:08 a.m.: A caller reported heavy smoke coming out of a chimney on Clinton Street. An officer responded with the fire department and spoke with the homeowner who was all set.

9:14 a.m.: A person walked in to the station to report that their handicapped placard had been stolen on West Main Street.

11:16 a.m.: An officer checked a vehicle on Lilac Court. The vehicle had a flat tire.

10:30 a.m.: An officer did community relations police-work on Wood Street.

12:58 p.m.: An officer removed a trash barrel that was a hazard to traffic on Hayden Rowe Street.

3:02 p.m.: An officer responded to a disabled motor vehicle on West Main Street after receiving several calls about it.

7:25 p.m.: An officer found a disabled motor vehicle on South Street. The operator had help on the way and the car was not in a dangerous place.

8:00 p.m.: A caller reported that they heard someone scream on Nicholas Road. An officer checked the area and everything appeared OK.

9:28 p.m.: A person walked in to the station to report that his vehicle had been broken into over night on Church Street.

9:41 p.m.: A caller reported a large branch hanging over the wires on School Street. An officer checked and found that the tree was split in half but not leaning on the wires. The DPW was contacted to remove the tree.
