Police Log: Marijuana in the Schools, Five P.M. Drunken-Driving

The following information was supplied by the Hopkinton Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, March 19

4:14 a.m.: An officer checked a person who was walking down Main Street. The officer transported the person to the station and made arrangements to transport them to Worcester.

6:09 a.m.: An officer responded to a residential fire alarm on Main Street.

10:09 a.m.: An officer responded to a narcotic violation at one of the schools.

11:13 a.m.: An officer investigated a possession of marijuana violation on Kimball Road.

11:21 a.m.: The manager at a Main Street store requested an officer for a person who was in the store. Management had the person on camera shoplifting in the past.

12:38 p.m.: A caller reported that a lumber truck was blocking traffic on Fruit Street and making it difficult to pass. An officer responded and checked that the truck was almost done its delivery and was not causing a hazard.

12:39 p.m.: An officer at the schools investigated possession of marijuana.

5:16 p.m.: A caller reported hitting a tire rim on the ramp for route 495. An officer assisted the driver whose driver’s side tires had both popped. A tow truck was on the way for the vehicle and the rim was no longer in the roadway.

5:43 p.m.: An officer checked a motor vehicle on Main Street and spoke to the operator who had recently purchased the vehicle.

6:40 p.m.: An officer responded to a car crash on Hayden Rowe Street.

7:33 p.m.: An officer took a report of a stolen package from Maple Street.

9:35 p.m.: A caller reported that their daughter was home alone on Blueberry Lane and someone kept ringing the doorbell. Officers checked the area and did not find anything suspicious.

Tuesday, March 20

8:01 a.m.: An officer checked a suspicious item left on Main Street. The officer determined that it was left accidentally.

10:16 a.m.: An officer spoke to the operator of a disabled motor vehicle. The operator had help on the way and was in a highly visible area.

12:28 p.m.: An officer arrested Madeline Vinton, 35, of 16 Robinson St., Webster, on warrant charges of larceny by embezzlement, larceny over $250, fraudulent obtaining of commercial computer services and knowingly receiving and using another’s credit card.

12:50 p.m.: An officer spoke to a person on Grove Street.

10:16 p.m.: A 911 caller reported that she heard someone running in her yard on Old Farm Road and she was unable to get her dog to come back in. Officers checked the area and did not find anything suspicious.

11:05 p.m.: A caller from Laurel Canyon Road reported that her neighbor’s dog was barking at her door. The caller unsuccessfully tried to contact the dog’s owner. An officer spoke to the owner who said they would bring the dog back in.

Wednesday, March 21

12:38 a.m.: An officer checked a person in a vehicle on Cedar Street.

9:45 a.m.: A caller reported a black Cadillac parked in front of her Downey Street house. An officer checked and the vehicle belonged to a limo driver who was waiting for his last run.

12:58 p.m.: A caller reported a downed wired on Main Street. Comcast responded within the hour to fix it. An officer coned off the area.

1:38 p.m.: received a call from the Upton Police Department about a report of a downed wire on West Main Street. An officer responded and found and old copper wire and removed it.

2:13 p.m.: An officer responded to a disabled motor vehicle on West Main Street. The vehicle had a blown tire and the operator was waiting for someone to come help him. The vehicle was not in a hazardous location.

5:18 p.m.: Officers responded to a call for erratic driving on Main Street. They arrested Kelly A. Bates, 24, of 12 Cedar Rd., Uxbridge. Bates was charged with resisting arrest, marked lanes violation and second offense drunken-driving.

5:21 p.m.: An officer responded to a three-car crash on Main Street. A tow was requested for one car.
