POLL: Do You Get Chinese Food for NYE?

It started somewhere, and the tradition is still going strong. Lots of people around here order Chinese food for New Year’s Eve.

It’s hard to find any substantial explantation as to why so many people fight the lines to order Chinese food for the annual celebration (which is more increasingly a quiet night at home). Some go to restaurants, but most do the take-out route, often putting the order in days, or even a week, in advance to make sure that pu-pu platter is set to go.

It seems to be a New England tradition, and Massachusetts residents are certainly familiar with scrambling to secure the best egg rolls and chow mien in town to help ring in the new year.

In Holliston and Hopkinton, local Chinese restaurants include Jing’s Garden, Szechuan Garden, Hai Tai Too, Cherry Blossom, Medway Lotus Restaurant, Milford Mandarin, Lilac House, Joy Luck Club, Star House Chinese and Beijing Dumpling House.
