Price Chopper Plaza on Schedule

Anyone with an interest in leasing space in the new 30,000 square foot office space next to the incoming Price Chopper should contact Chuck Joseph.

The Price Chopper building is moving along, and occupancy is expected in late spring, early summer of 2012.

Along with the Price Chopper, there is also a 30,000 square foot space in need of tenants.

"We would like to see restaurants, a coffee and/or sandwich shop, banks, a liquor store, a jewelry store, etc.. on the lower floor," Remax Owner/Broker Chuck Joseph said. "On the upper floor we have office space to fill. We are looking at the possibility of business condominiums as there does seem to be an interest in that."

The Price Chopper, which is on the Upton side of the parcel, is expected to be two-thirds of the size of the Shrewsbury Price Chopper location.

"This is a perfect fit for this community," Joseph said. "We hope to attract people back to town and help them to acquire their goods locally."

Since the 1990's the town has grown significantly, according to Joseph, and many residents would like to support local businesses.

"The commercial tax base is currently about 15 percent," Joseph said. "We need that to be closer to 20 percent, which doesn't seem like  a lot, but it will take multiple commercial projects. This will inch us along."

Part of the desire for the increased commercial tax base is to lessen the burden on the residential tax base.

"Adding commerical businesses will help to lessen the impact on the residential tax payer," Joseph explained.

ReMax is seeking folks who may be interested in leasing space. Interested? Please call Chuck Joseph at 508-435-5353 or email him at ChuckJoseph@remaxexec.com.
