Price Chopper to Break Ground in Fall
Grocery will be anchor of Hopkinton Square project at corner of South and West Main streets.

Price Chopper Supermarkets said in a press release today it plans to build a new store in Hopkinton.
The new store is expected to be the anchor store of Hopkinton Square, a retail and office site planned for the corner of South and West Main streets near Rte. 495.
“We are very excited to have such a respected name in the supermarket industry anchor the Hopkinton Square project,” developer Chuck Joseph said in the release.
The press release said site work will begin shortly to make way for the pad on which the store will be built.

Placement of the pad is expected to be ready in early fall at which there will be an official groundbreaking ceremony for the new store, the release said. Price Chopper, which is based in Albany, said there will be more details about the store then.
The company said the new 40,000-sq.-ft. store will be the eastern-most location for Price Chopper Supermarkets. is anticipated to receive Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification, as have all Price Chopper stores built since 2008.

The grand opening of the new store is projected to take place in the summer of 2012.
