Running for a Cause: Project Just Because

Kyle Kelley will be running his first Boston Marathon this year and raising money for the local food bank.

As a five year Hopkinton resident, Kyle Kelley has been around the start of the Boston Marathon enough to know how big of an event it is.

Until this year though Kelley has never run it. Kelley has been a runner for a couple years and said he and has always looked forward to doing it some day; he even had plans to run it in 2013 but when he was asked to help out in the community he felt now was the right time.

“The main reason I decided to run this year was because it’s a unique opportunity to work with ,” Kelley said. “I’ve always wanted to run in it, I go watch the start with my sons every year.”

As part of living in Hopkinton, Kelley said he has seen the great work PJB can do for families.

“They do so much to help people in need, and they do it in a way that really shows they care. They don’t just give you gifts, but they wrap them also,” he said. “I know how much this means to them because when I went in to talk to them about running they didn’t say a word, Cherylann just hugged me.”

This is the first time PJB will have an official entry into the marathon, they got it because the to help show how dedicated they are to serving the community where it all begins.

“I’m so excited that the B.A.A. is giving numbers to local charities, it’s a great way to honor everything the community of Hopkinton does for the race,” Kelley said.

Most runners have a specific time in mind for when they run the Boston Marathon or any race, but for Kelley it’s even simpler than that.

“I want to finish, but I’m more excited that I get to work with PJB,” Kelley said. “I’ll be really happy with myself if I can make it to the top of heartbreak hill still running.”

Kelley has already raised more than $1,800 but he is only half-way to meeting his goal. If you would like to support Kelley and Project just because visit https://www.wepay.com/donations/156368
