Shen's Academy Shines at Recent Competition

Two members of the Holliston gym earned state titles at a regional meet April 9.

Shen's Gymnastics Academy sent two athletes to the winner's circle at a competition on April 9.

Sixteen-year-old Medway resident Andrew Wallace won the state title on vault. Wallace, a Level 9 gymnast, also placed third in the floor exercises and qualified for regionals. There, he placed second on vault and third on floor.

Meanwhile, Hopkinton resident Brian Best competed in all six events for Level 5 in the 10-year-old to 11-year-old division.

The Level 4 and Level 7 girls teams also competed in the USA Gymnastics State Championship in April, proving they too have what it takes to win.

Easton's Maura Robillard earned first place on floor and vault. Robillard also placed second on bars, fourth on beam and second in the all-around competition in the Level 4 senior age division.

In the Level 4 child division, North Attleboro's Joella Mills scored a 9.6 on vault and placed fourth on beam, fifth on bars, and second in All-Around. Also in this division were Holliston's Alisa Grishechkina and Sherborn's Emmeline Morgens, who scored and 8.7 and 8.6 on bars, respectively.

Holliston's Leah Keyes earned a 9.4 on vault in the intermediate age division. 

Placing second in the all-around competition for Level 7 was 12-year-old Holliston resident Danielle Brucato. Brucato also placed third on bars and beam with a 9.375, and seventh on floor.

Francesca D’Angelo, 12, of Medfield, took fifth on bars, seventh on beam and vault (9.275) and placed sixth in the all-around competition.

Twelve-year-old Uxbridge resident Amanda Gentzler came in fifth on beam with a 9.250 and was ninth in the all-around.

Mackenzie Gallant, 12, of Sherborn, finished sixth on the vault with a 9.3. Thirteen-year-old Rachael Smith, of Milford, scored a high of 8.950 on vault and Sydney Chemini, 11, of Medway, scored a high of 9.025 on beam.
