VIDEO: Rick Spencer Performs 'Ole Dan Tucker'
Rick Spencer, executive director of the Ashbel Woodward Museum in Franklin, CT, performed some hits of the 1800s during the "Greatest Hits of the Civil War: America's Earliest Professional Songwriters" presentation Sunday.
Eight days after holding its , the continued commemorating the 150th anniversay of the beginning of the Civil War with a presentation of the era's music Sunday.
Sponsored by CIVILized Solutions, the presentation, called "Greatest Hits of the Civil War: America's Earliest Professional Songwriters" was led by Rick Spencer, executive director of Dr. Ashbel Woodward Museum in Franklin, CT.
Spencer performed songs from the mid- to late-1800s, including Dixie by Daniel Decatur Emmett, Oh Susanna by Stephen Foster, The Battle Cry of Freedom by George F. Root and Kingdom Coming by Henry Clay Work.

Historical Society member Frank Chamberlain also spoke about the war participation of a group of Holliston soldiers called the "The Winthrop Guards," who served as members of the 16th Massachusetts Volunteers.
