Want to Start a New Career?
Thinking about becoming a realtor? Law changes may help you decide.

Ever think of changing careers?
Want more freedom with how you spend your time working? Being a realtor can be challenging, but it can also be very rewarding. Many people flirt with the idea of being a realtor but oftentimes visions of polyester suit jackets interrupt the exploration. There certainly is a lot of misinformation about what this career entails.
With the advent of technology, the real estate professional has completely changed. Many of the older agents have not been able to embrace the technology and many of the newer agents don’t have a clue about customer service. Being a good agent means you can walk that fine line between both worlds. The profession has the amazing ability to help others find the home of their family’s dreams.

- Your time is your time: Becoming a realtor separates you from the 9 to 5ers. Your service is available when you want it to be and when it fits into your schedule. And you get to make your own schedule, which can be a great perk especially if you have children. Of course, people are going to call you at times that are sometimes inconvenient.
- Income: As with everything, you get out of it what you put into it. The sky truly is the limit as long as you work at it consistently. Since it’s mostly a referral business, it will take some time to build your client base. But once that’s done, your career can really take off. The market will always have ups and downs, but how you handle it will again depend on your effort and energy you put in.
- Not being stuck in an office: With everyone having access to the Internet, real estate has become very different over the last 10 years. No longer does the client come in to the office and sit at a table and look at Polaroid pictures. Anyone and everyone has access to all the properties, so most of the communication is done via phone or emails and websites. Clients sit at their computer and view the homes they like and we then meet them at those homes. And with laptops and smart phones, it’s really not even necessary to sit at a desk in an office.
- The people: When you become a realtor, it provides you an opportunity to meet some of the most amazing people. With some clients you can spend months looking for a home and over that time, you develop real and true friendships.
