9-Year-Old Loses Hand After Igniting Firework

Two Children were injured Sunday afternoon in the area of Howard Street and Woodcliff Street.

Two boys from Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood were severely injured during a fireworks accident over the weekend. Police say one of the children lost a hand on Sunday afternoon.

Both of the boys suffered facial injuries, but nine-year-old Raciel Carubuccia lost his hand. Police say the mishap happened after they found a leftover firework and ignited it in the area of Howard Avenue and Woodcliff Street.

Carubuccia underwent surgery on his hand on Sunday. Officials say the boy is resting in fair condition at Boston’s Children Hospital.
