Boston Firefighter Saves Dog From Icy Jamaica Pond (Video)
Dramatic video shows a Boston firefighter crashing through ice to save a dog that fell through at Jamaica Pond.
BOSTON, MA — A Boston firefighter saved a dog that fell through the ice at Jamaica Pond Thursday and the dramatic incident was captured on video. A passerby caught the rescue on her phone and the video shows a firefighter in a survival suit using a hook to crash through the ice and reach the dog, named "Maggie." While clutching the dog, the pair are pulled closer with a rope manned by team of firefighters on the shore. The firefighter then hoists the dog up onto a stronger patch of ice and the animal walks away unscathed.
Fire officials told the Boston Globe the dog's owner was walking the animal around the pond when it broke free and crashed through the ice.
Passerby Emily Robertson captured the rescue on her phone and published it in a public Facebook post:
