Boston University Adjuncts Vote to Unionize

The collective bargaining process will reportedly begin next.

Part-time faculty at Boston University have voted in favor of joining SEIU Local 509 after a ballot count Tuesday by the National Labor Relations Board.

The Boston Business Journal talked to a SEIU Local 509 spokesman who said ballots from two-thirds of 785 adjust professors in the bargaining unit eligible to vote were included in the voting process and the union won by a two-to-one margin.

Adjunct faculty and university officials will now begin the process of collective bargaining at BU, the SEIU spokesman said.
