Boston Woman Files Civil Rights Suit Over Alleged MBTA Beating

A Boston woman claims two MBTA officers pepper sprayed her and then beat her at the Dudley Square T stop.

A woman filed a civil rights lawsuit in court Wednesday against the MBTA after an alleged arrest involving the use pepper spray at the Dudley Square Station.

Mary Holmes, of Boston, has accused two MBTA police officers of police brutality, according to a WCVB report.

While at the Dudley Square T stop in March of 2014, Holmes said she witnessed an officer push an older black woman. Holmes said in the lawsuit that she asked the officer to stop exerting force.

Holmes further claims the officers pepper sprayed her and then beat her.

This suit is about justice for Mary Holmes, who had the courage to stand up for her rights and the rights of those around her,” Holmes’ attorney told the station.
