Calling all the Booklovers of JP

The Annual Book Sale hosted by the Friends of the Jamaica Plain Branch Library starts today. This year we are having a two-day sale - it is being held on both Friday and Saturday.

Thanks to the generous support and donations of lots of community members there are thousands of titles to choose from.  And they are priced to sell - $1 for softcovers and $2 for hardcovers!!  There are also DVDs, CDs and VHS tapes if watching is more your thing, all for $2 or less.

You will find an array of children's and young adult books for those who have youngsters and want to replenish the stock of reading materials available to your household.  We even have a little reading nook for 'depositing' your tot while you shop.

There is a whole host of fiction books - get a stack to take with you to the beach this summer.  You can finally read "The Girl With the Dragaon Tattoo" series - for a three dollar investment!  We have plenty of mysteries, romance, poetry, sci-fi -- you name the genre it is here.  And part of the fun is looking through all the boxes to see just what you can find.

Non-ficition provides a vast collection of topics - if you have an interest you are sure to find it amidst this selection: baskets, baseball, travel, cooking, fine art, politics, science, photography.  There are old textbooks if you are super serious and "For Dummies" guides if you are not.

The Foreign Language section has books in Spanish, French and some languages we are not really sure about - but someone in JP must know!

Please come by and buy some items either today or tomorrow. You will definitely find something and don't forget to buy a "I Love My Library" totebag to carry your purchases home in.  All the proceeds from the sale go to support the venerable (but decrepit) Jamaica Plain branch library.
