Camping is a great way to escape life’s chaos and reconnect with family, friends and the outdoors. While toasting marshmallows and exploring nature may be some of summer’s simplest pleasures, it is important to think of safety first.

Knowing what to pack: When camping, always expect the unexpected. It might get cold and rainy or be really hot and humid.  A tent stake might break or a flashlight might not work. You don’t want to be caught without the essentials, so be sure to print out this camping checklist!

Dealing with bugs and insects: Dark and bright colored clothing can be a magnet for bugs. Instead, wear light and pale colored clothes outside. While citronella candles are good for keeping insects away, always be sure to check for any mosquitoes or ticks on you.
