English High Graduates the Class of 2012

EHS graduates the Class of 2012

Metcalf Hall on the campus of BU was the setting for the 188th commencement of English High School on Saturday afternoon, June 9.  At 3 p.m., the graduates and faculty filed in and took their seats in a reserved front section.  An ROTC contingent posted the colors and the national anthem was performed by organist Fred MacArthur. 

Welcoming all and introducing guest speakers was headmaster Sito Narcisse.  Among several honored guests was city councilor Tito Jackson who delivered the commencement address.  Music was part of the ceremony.   A chorus sang the tune 'Lean on Me' and 'This Is It'.  Several students were called up on stage to accept the Franklin Medals and scholarships.  Former headmaster Robert S. Peterkin presentd scholarships to four students.  He led English from 1974 to 1978 and later established a scholarship in his name.  The valedictory address was presented by .  For Dr. Narcisse, the commencement was his last as he will move on to another leadership position out of state.  He proudly presented diplomas to 98 graduates.
