JP Residents Leaflet Outside the Harvest Coop
It's a campaign to bring awareness to the Coop's sale of products that support Israeli human rights violations against the Palestinian people.
If you shop at the you may have noticed on the second Wednesday of the month members of the Boston Boycott, Divestment, Sanction campaign (BDS) have been leafletting outside the Coop to bring awareness to this strategy which began in 2005 by Palestinian civil society.
The campaign is an international effort to draw attention to Israeli human rights violations of the Palestinian people within the borders of Israel and in the Occupied Territories. One activity of the local campaign is to gather enough signatures required to have the Coop present a referendum to its members to consider deshelving the products manufactured by the Sabra and Tribe companies. There is a local brand called Sabra which makes humus. Do not confuse Sabra of Norwood with the international company that supports the Golani Brigade.
As Amos Harel reported in the Israeli newspaper, Haaretz, on January 6, 2009, the Golani Brigade..."is known as a brigade that struggles with no small number of disciplinary problems and scandals, caused by bad behavior ranging from revolts against commanders to abuse of Palestinians."

Tribe products are owned by the Osem company, a major supporter of the Jewish National Fund, which controls 93% of the land in Israel and can only be sold, rented or worked by Israelis.
Both these companies support human rights abuses and continue to the ongoing occupation of Palestinian land, the apartheid conditions for the Palestinian population within and outside the 1948 borders and are deterrants for a just peace in the Middle East.
