JP Vows
The first in a series of photo essays inspired by celebrations at Jamaica Plain's historic gem - the Loring-Greenough House.
It's not often that JP traffic slows down in front of my South Street home, so when it did on one rainy August afternoon this summer, I peeked out to see why. A wedding procession was marching by, led by a bride and groom who strolled together under a cheerful red and white-striped umbrella. As it turns out, they were en route to their reception at the Loring Greenough House after exchanging their vows at the Saint Thomas Aquinas Parish, a short walk away.
My elation upon seeing the couple was especially heightened, for just a month later a good friend of mine would be celebrating her marriage at the Loring-Greenough House as well. Little did I know then, I would soon be helping couples plan their “big day” as the new private functions manager at the historic house.

The couple I spied walking by in August, who I now know as Caitlin and Tom, like to keep it local; “I can't help but smile every time I walk by the Loring-Greenough House, which is pretty much a necessity given our current address," admits the bride who, like me, lives just a few blocks from the house. Despite the rain, she remembers: "...it was such a great day.”
