Join us for the 2nd annual Cape Cod Pottery Trail! This self-guided trail offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at the people and places where Cape Cod pottery is made. With 16 locations on the 2026 trail map and multiple artists at some locations, visitors can experience an extraordinary range of ceramic work—from wheel-thrown and slipcast functional ware to hand-built sculpture, jewelry, raku and wood-fired pieces. Many of these spaces are not open to the public outside the Trail, making the weekend a unique opportunity to meet the artists, see their creative processes, and purchase work directly from the makers. The Trail is free and open to everyone. There is no starting point or route. Visitors already on-Cape can jump onto the trail at any location, while those arriving from off-Cape often begin at the Sagamore location. Download a map from the Pottery Trail website. For an added element of fun, this map doubles as a Pottery Passport which provides space to collect a stamp at each stop. Complete the passport and turn it in at the final stop for a chance to win a handmade piece created by one of the Trail artists. September 25, 5-7pm Kick Off the Weekend at the Preview Party Get the hottest ticket in town! Join us for a festive evening event where you will meet the makers, see (and purchase) samples of their work, connect with the thriving pottery community – all while enjoying food and drink in the beautiful garden setting. Courageous Sailing at Jamaica Pond Boathouse

Travel around the Pond with the Jamaica Plain Historical Society. Once a district that only included the houses of Boston’s elite, the Pond was later put to industrial use as tons of ice were harvested there each winter. Learn about the movers and shakers, such as Francis Parkman and James Michael Curley, who made their homes on the Pond’s shores. Discover how the Pond was transformed from private estates and warehouses into the parkland we know today. All tours are free to the public and are offered on dates shown. <a href="https://www.jphs.org/hiddenjamaicaplain" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Hidden Jamaica Plain</a> researchers will present the remarkable multi-generational story of a resilient Black family whose history spanned three centuries, intertwined with the history of Jamaica Plain and local Black and Indigenous communities.&nbsp; Enslaved in the 1700s, Peter Bridgham gained his freedom and established a Centre Street homestead that nurtured four generations.
This event is free and open to the public and light refreshments will be served. This will be a hybrid program. Please attend in person at the First Church if you are able. Wrap yourself up in the warm memories of Edwina, a precocious and delightful girl who lived in Jamaica Plain in the early 1900s. Edwina’s memoirs, tell the stories of growing up the child of a single, working mother who never let her daughter know how hard life really was. This unique and fun presentation by Jill Hofstra, Edwina’s granddaughter, and by Edwina’s great-great granddaughters, will have you step back over 100 years for an inside look into the sites, neighborhoods, and neighbors of Jamaica Plain.
You will be introduced to the diverse cast of characters that populated Edwina’s world through her mother’s business and her homes on Centre Street and Paul Gore Street. Threaded with life’s lessons and an understanding look at human nature, I’m Edwina, is an unforgettable book that leaves some unanswered questions, and a lot of room for speculation and reflection. Perhaps, Edwina’s story will spark forgotten family history, a memory, and an inspiration for you, as well. Don’t miss this adventurous afternoon and peek into Jamaica Plain history.
I'm Edwina is an update of the book "Edwina", which was published in 2005. The revised book will be available the end of October.&nbsp;
Jill Hofstra, Edwina’s granddaughter, retired from a career as a marketing and sales executive and is currently a substitute teacher and volunteer in child welfare services in Tampa, Florida. Her work along with her time spent with nine beautiful grandchildren, keeps her totally immersed in the role of mentoring children. Bringing Edwina’s Jamaica Plain childhood stories to life for her grandchildren and the generations ahead and has been a truly enlightening and fulfilling experience.
This talk is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
