Camel Escapes Franklin Park Zoo: Reports False Says Zoo

But a "Boston Camel" Twitter account has sprung up in the wake of all the confusion. So there's that.

BOSTON, MA — At about 7:15 p.m. someone called police to report a camel may have escaped from Franklin Park Zoo. Multiple police units and an environmental police officer responded to the area in attempt to find the animal. But a spokesperson for the zoo confirmed to Patch that the camel was at the zoo safe and sound and had never escaped the actual grounds. Police said they couldn't verify the authenticity of the call.

It appears that a camel never actually escaped the zoo, but in the wake of the possibility, a "@CamelBoston" Twitter account has popped up with some fun memes.

The zoo is home to a Bactrian Camel (two humps) that is about 7 ft tall including the hump, and 1,600 pounds. It's also home to an Arabian Camel (one hump Dromedary), but according to the website, the Arabian camels are "off exhibit" for the winter season.
