City Kids Donates New Computer Lab to Italian Home for Children
After discovering a need for new technology, City Realty steps in to help out.
JAMAICA PLAIN, MA (March 15, 2019) - City Kids, a youth education nonprofit program developed by City Realty, donated a full computer lab to the Italian Home for Children in Jamaica Plain. City Realty Managing Partner Steve Whalen discovered the need for new computer equipment during a recent visit to the facility. Whalen worked with City Realty’s Chief Technology Officer Jerry Wycoco to select the desktops, design the space and install the entire telecommunications infrastructure. The lab environment is designed to inspire learning while providing children with the tools and resources to maximize their educational opportunities.
The Italian Home for Children provides an integrated network of powerful and effective programs to help children and families with emotional, behavioral and educational challenges thrive in their communities. The kids will use the new computer lab to aid in school work and research.
This is the latest example of the City Kids mission to empower the students of Boston and beyond by providing educational resources and support. Since its inception, City Kids has donated more than 1,000 computers to local schools and educational programs. City Kids also provides unique experiences, such as an annual surf camp, with the goal of sparking intellectual curiosity among young students.
